what herbs and spices should someone with type 2 diabetes use when cooking chicken?

October 06, 2009

There all right, I am a former chef, 20+ years of international experience and a Type 2 diabetic for 10 years, and the only thing other than sugar that has to be watched is salt, like sugar it cases issue with the blood and you retain more fluids cause you glucometer readings to be higher.

I cook mainly vegetarian now and one other good food for diabetics which provides protein an help with sugar levels are chickpeas/garbanzo beans, in any dish there good for you.

You really don’t need to worry about that, unless you’re thinking that a sugar glaze is a spice.

My husband has diabetes …..ANY herbs and spices are perfectly fine! They don’t have sugar…… Just watch your processed sugar intake; and your carbs (which raise your blood sugar). If you’re on medication, you might not be able to eat grapefruit (check with your pharmacist). If you also have high blood pressure, keep your salt intake very low too

I heard a little cinnamon can actually keep blood pressure from rising.
Parsley, bay leaf, rosemary and lemon Zest are good with foods.

I heard that cinnmon is good for blood sugar. Stay away from licorice herb. It can raise blood pressure and having controlroled BP is important with diabetes.
